Stills Photography for Airfield Buildings
I have generated a list of the types of buildings historical artifacts/defenses that I would like to feature and discuss about within my historical documentary on RAF Harrowbeer. The process for this research will consist of looking at handbooks for other RAF buildings and finding imagery as close to this particular airfield. The next step will be to try to find archive footage of each of the remains to give a feel as to the scale of the buildings and to understand there practicalities and uses at a time of war. The final part will consist of myself having a tour of the airfield and photographing or shooting footage of the buildings, it will be key to film from the same angle to ensure that the images can be superimposed over the top of the footage.
Architectural remains for my film
Ravens-croft (Officers Mess)
Control/Watch Tower, Pundit Code, Compass Platform and Signaling Mortar
Battlegrounds HQ - Similar to the remains at Davidstow Airfield
Fighter Pens and Air Raid Shelters
Parachute Store
Alan Williams Turret and Possibly Anderson Shelter
Memorial Stone at Yelverton - marks the 40th anniversary of the airfield
Ways in which to extend the piece
Possible feature for the link trainer - acted as a simulator for pilots
Discuss the different types of aircraft or explore into how the runways were built up and constructed.
I am now in the process of generating a storyboard for my film where I can outline the sequences for the content of my film in great detail. I am using the Microsoft programme 'One Note' for this as it automatically saves links of images and video.
