Budget - Costings and Kit
In order to show a high level of Professionalism for our projects we were asked to create a budget which would show how we managed to develop our ideas into fully functioning artist films. For my film, I was advised to create a list of costings as I devised my piece solely through research, guided tours and making use of the technology that I already had. In previous projects I have found this a really useful task as you work out how much each element of your production is going to cost, but... it doesn't stop here because once you have made the film, you'll need to market it, the budget is a great way to work out the pricing for your production as well as any external material that may be on offer.
It is certainly an important skill to have, as a filmmaker and photographer, a budget is needed for every job you undergo upfront, it's a great way of ensuring that you are charging or receiving enough money, once your expenditures are paid for or returned, you can invest the money sum left over, back into your business to keep it running.
